Holistic Massage

Holistic massage is an individual treatment that is specifically tailored to each client. A holistic practitioner treats the client as a whole, taking into account their emotional and spiritual well-being, as well as their physical body.

A range of massage techniques may be used. Flexibility in applying this knowledge is paramount since appropriateness must be determined by the client's particular needs.  Every treatment is unique providing a creative opportunity for your therapist to adapt to the given situation.

I work 'with' you the client rather than just giving a massage 'to' you.

Modalities used include:

Swedish Massage is the basis for most massage.  It is a relaxing, soothing and therapeutic style of bodywork. The foundation of this is a sense of safety for you, for bodywork to be therapeutic your body must sense its safety when you are in my massage studio.

Hot Stone Therapy can be used as part of your massage at no extra charge.  Heated stones are placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.

Deep Tissue massage aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable.  Deep tissue massage doesn't always have to hurt, though it sometimes does

Scar Therapy - 4 different ways of helping you

Lymphatic taping - When kinesiology tape is applied to an inflamed or swollen area, the lifting motion of the tape creates a space between the top layer of skin and the underlying tissues. This space creates a pressure gradient between this area and the surrounding tissues that allow fluids to move into the lymphatic vessels and be eliminated from the body.  In addition, enhanced muscle activation increases the muscle pump pushing more fluid through the lymphatic vessels. The result? Swelling goes down, pain is relieved, and the healing process is accelerated.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage or MLD, is a gentle, but powerful technique that encourages the movement of lymph in the body. The lymph system helps to remove waste and toxins in the body. People seek MLD for relaxation but most often for cosmetic and medical reasons. Oftentimes people may call the accumulation of lymph as water retention or fluid build-up. The doctors may call this oedema or lymphedema. Learn more here

At the beginning of the first session, a fully confidential consultation will be taken, I don’t charge for this time. This is done to get a better understanding of you and any ailments, areas of tension or discomfort that you may be experiencing.

No two massages are the same and each massage is completely tailored to your needs on the given day. Our massage treatments, incorporate many different techniques to help you relax.

The treatment would usually take place on a massage table using a range of different supports to suit your needs. My Table is steel, hydraulic and rated to 200Kg

I generally use Tui bee balms in the treatments, but very happy to accommodate any requests, if given in advance.

Underwear is worn by you, for the treatment. I will leave the room whilst you undress and position yourself under the drape. During the treatment, I will only uncover the area of the body that I am working on at the time, the rest of your body will be covered.

I will check in with you, with regards to pressure and comfort, and very much encourage you to communicate your preferences, many clients though, prefer to remain silent throughout, so it is up to you.

Once your treatment is complete I will leave the room for a few minutes, so that you can slowly and gradually re-dress. I will then come back into the room and spend a little more time discussing your treatment. This will complete your Holistic Massage treatment.
