Legacy
Legacy
I have been thinking a lot about this over the last month, as it is three years since my mother passed away.
That week a dear acquaintance of mine came to visit, you know who you are.
She shared her story about the passing of her father recently. It was a beautiful story, woven together with so many emotions. I was very grateful to have been able to provide a space for this amazing lady. In our community, she is leaving an inspiring legacy, and her children’s interests appear to be taking threads from their grandfather and using them in their lives. We then went on to a lovely massage, a very special time. I am very grateful for the honor of this time, and each time I work with someone.
The studio that you visit was built for my father to stay in when he visits from the UK. There is also an oil painting on the wall of my grandfather, taken from a photograph when he was here 100 years ago.
When I massage people, I always feel that am sinking into your lives, The tensions held, the overworked muscles, the legacy left of a broken bone, a scar or perhaps children nourished and birthed.
A life lived and the story written within our bodies.
On the opposite side each breath that we take, each pump of our heart brings new potential. The oxygen that gives us life has been exhaled by the trees, and we in turn exhale carbon dioxide. When I was out walking the dog I saw this beautiful nest, and it sums up the relationships woven into legacy. Each part of this nest had been discarded from another living creation. The bird that built it wove a new creation to create a safe pace for a new generation. It then fell and the cycle continues. That day a repeat client was due in, she also collects nests.
